Ignition Lock Cylinder Repairs

Toyota Key Won’t Turn In Ignition?

toyota ignition lock serviceThis is a common situation for Toyota’s with   the split wafer system. Toyota uses small wafer (tumblers) in positions #4 and #7 that cause complications as the lock and key wear out over time.

What happens is that over time one of the split wafers over laps and traps the cylinder from turning more than about half way to accessory position. Leaving you stuck. Don’t Force the key to turn, it will only complicate the problem.

Our approach to this problem is to remove the lock cylinder and remove the split wafers in positions #4 and #7. This will ensure that this does not happen again. We start by cutting a key back to code, then remove the wafers, then put it all back together. We send you with two code cut keys and a warranty for 1 year.
